Brushed Beach Blanket

I was on the beach with my sketchbook and an ink pen-brush, and there was this tourist woman relaxing on the beach. It was blazing hot, but she was in the sun. She moved around because she didn't know I was painting her, but I waited until she returned to certain positions to complete my sketch of her as she fidgeted.

  1. Her fidgeting may have improved your sketch. You appear to have captured her in movement, by which I mean there is a certain fluidity in your picture. You also seem to have found her sense of freedom in the way she is looking ahead despite your being behind her. Have you tried likeness or caricature portraits? There's money in it!
